turkey, bacon, eggs, cheese.
This recipe is a delicious twist on a classic roast turkey. The turkey is wrapped in crispy bacon and stuffed with a cheesy egg stuffing. It's the perfect dish to impress your guests at a special dinner or holiday gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 whole turkey (approximately 12 pounds)
- 12 slices of bacon
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella works well)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and shredded cheese until well combined. Set aside.
- Carefully remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity. Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- Season the inside of the turkey cavity with salt and pepper.
- Spoon the egg and cheese mixture into the turkey cavity, filling it loosely. Be careful not to overstuff.
- Truss the turkey by tying the legs together with kitchen twine. This will help the turkey cook evenly and maintain its shape.
- Lay the bacon slices across the top of the turkey, covering as much surface area as possible.
- Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan.
- Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for approximately 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured with a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh.
- Baste the turkey with the pan juices every 30 minutes to keep it moist and flavorful.
- Once the turkey is fully cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before carving.
- Carve the turkey into slices and serve with your favorite side dishes.
