This recipe is a delicious twist on a classic roast turkey. The turkey is wrapped in crispy bacon and stuffed with a cheesy egg stuffing. It's the perfect dish to impress your guests at a special dinner or holiday gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (approximately 12 pounds)
  • 12 slices of bacon
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella works well)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and shredded cheese until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Carefully remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity. Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  4. Season the inside of the turkey cavity with salt and pepper.
  5. Spoon the egg and cheese mixture into the turkey cavity, filling it loosely. Be careful not to overstuff.
  6. Truss the turkey by tying the legs together with kitchen twine. This will help the turkey cook evenly and maintain its shape.
  7. Lay the bacon slices across the top of the turkey, covering as much surface area as possible.
  8. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan.
  9. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for approximately 3 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured with a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh.
  10. Baste the turkey with the pan juices every 30 minutes to keep it moist and flavorful.
  11. Once the turkey is fully cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before carving.
  12. Carve the turkey into slices and serve with your favorite side dishes.
