  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour


  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
  3. Gradually add the milk to the roux, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  4. Season the sauce with salt and pepper, then stir in half of the cheddar cheese until melted.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the broccoli, ham, and cheese sauce. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil, sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving.
