Canned Chili Frito Pie
What Started it all:
Canned Chili, frito corn chips
Serving Size: 1 portion
Ingredients
- 2 cans of chili
- 4 cups of frito corn chips
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of diced red onions
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup of sliced pickled jalapenos
- 1/4 cup of sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Empty both cans of chili into a medium-sized saucepan and heat over medium heat until hot and bubbling.
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the frito corn chips evenly on the bottom.
- Pour half of the hot chili over the corn chips, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the chili.
- Repeat steps 3 to 5 to create a second layer with the remaining corn chips, chili, and cheese.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Garnish with diced red onions, chopped cilantro, sliced pickled jalapenos, and dollops of sour cream.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
