  • 250g macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, salt, and black pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a simmer.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. In the prepared baking dish, combine the cooked macaroni and the cheese sauce. Mix well to coat the macaroni evenly.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese on top of the macaroni.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
