Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds ground beef (80% lean)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 1 red onion, sliced
- Lettuce leaves
- Pickle slices
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Your favorite condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Gently mix until all ingredients are well incorporated. Do not overmix to avoid tough patties.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.
- Heat a large skillet or grill over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
- Once the skillet or grill is hot, add the patties.
- Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt the cheese.
- While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the skillet or grill until golden brown.
- Spread your favorite condiments on the bottom half of each bun.
- Place a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, and a few onion rings on the bun.
- Add the cooked patty on top of the vegetables.
- Top with pickle slices and any additional condiments you like.
- Place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger.
- Serve the hamburgers immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as fries or a salad.
