Lasagna is a classic Italian dish that’s perfect for feeding a crowd. This recipe is a timeless favorite that’s sure to please everyone at the table.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the oregano, basil, and crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 10 minutes, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta, 1 1/2 cups of mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  5. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange 6 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  6. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles, then top with another layer of meat sauce. Repeat layers, and sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes.
  8. Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before serving.
