Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for frying
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Dip each chicken breast into the flour, then the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure to press the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to ensure a crispy crust.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken breasts for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Place the cooked chicken breasts on top.
- Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken breasts, making sure they are fully covered.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the chicken breasts.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
