Easy Indian Hemp Seed Potato Curry

  • 4 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup hemp seeds
  • 1/2 cup dried fruits (raisins, apricots)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish


  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until they are soft and golden.
  3. Stir in the ground cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper, and cook for another minute to release the flavors.
  4. Add the cubed potatoes and hemp seeds to the pan, and stir to coat them with the spices.
  5. Pour in the water, and bring the mixture to a boil. Then reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  6. Once the potatoes are cooked, stir in the dried fruits and let them simmer for another 5 minutes.
  7. Season with salt to taste.
  8. Serve the curry hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
