Ingredients
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of chocolate chips (optional)
- 1 cup of your favorite fruit preserves (for filling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch pie pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and mix until combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
- If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips to the batter for an extra gooey texture.
- Pour half of the batter into each prepared pie pan.
- Spoon a generous layer of your favorite fruit preserves over the batter in each pie pan, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
- Carefully spread the remaining batter on top of the fruit preserves in each pie pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the pies to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Once cooled, slice and serve!
