What Started it all:
Peanuts, Turnip, canned fish (tuna, sardines), grill
A fusion of Indian and Mediterranean flavors, this recipe combines the richness of peanuts, the crunch of turnip, and the smokiness of grilled tuna, all in a delicious and easy-to-make dish.
Ingredients
- 1 can of tuna (drained and flaked)
- 1 can of sardines (drained and chopped)
- 2 medium turnips, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup of peanuts
- 1/4 cup of peanut oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of garam masala
- 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the peanut chutney: In a blender or food processor, grind the peanuts, peanut oil, garlic, garam masala, cumin powder, and salt until smooth. Add the lemon juice and blend until well combined. Set aside.
- Marinate the tuna and sardines: In a bowl, mix together the flaked tuna, chopped sardines, garam masala, cumin powder, and salt. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Grill the tuna and sardines: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Remove the tuna and sardines from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Grill the turnips: Brush the turnip cubes with peanut oil and season with salt. Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until tender and slightly charred.
- Assemble the dish: Cut the grilled tuna and sardines into bite-sized pieces. Serve with the grilled turnips and a dollop of peanut chutney on the side. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
This recipe is perfect for a quick and flavorful dinner or lunch. The peanut chutney adds a rich and creamy element, while the grilled turnips provide a nice crunch. You can adjust the amount of spices to your taste, and feel free to add other ingredients like onions or bell peppers to the marinade. Enjoy!
