Ham and Potato Casserole Recipe

This hearty casserole is a perfect comfort food for any occasion. The combination of salty ham and creamy potatoes make it a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups diced cooked ham
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and garlic powder and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the mixture is thickened and bubbly.
  4. Add the ham and stir to combine.
  5. Layer the sliced potatoes in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Pour the ham mixture over the potatoes, spreading it evenly.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the ham mixture.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and continue baking for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
