Italian Pasta with Salami and Tomato Sauce

What Started it all:
Salami, onion, tomate, garlic
This recipe serves 4 people.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of pasta
- 1/2 pound of salami, sliced thinly
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a large pot of salted water over high heat and bring to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, following the package instructions. Drain the pasta and reserve about a cup of the pasta water.
- In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the salami and sautee for 2-3 minutes, or until they start to brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the onions and garlic and sautee until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and let it cook for another 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the salami back to the pan and give it a good mix.
- Add the cooked pasta to the tomato and salami sauce and mix well. If the pasta is too dry, add a little bit of the pasta water you reserved earlier to loosen it up.
- Serve the pasta in bowls and garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
