Korean-Style Cod with Avocado Salsa and Mustard Dipping Sauce

In Korea, cod is a popular ingredient in many dishes. This recipe is a fun twist on traditional Korean cuisine, perfect for a quick and easy dinner or lunch.


  • 1 pound cod fillet, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 ripe avocados, diced
  • 2 tablespoons Korean chili flakes (gochugaru)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions for garnish
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds for garnish
  • 1/4 cup mustard (such as Dijon or whole-grain)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. In a large frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the cod pieces to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
  3. Remove the cod from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  5. Add the diced avocado and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until slightly softened.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the Korean chili flakes, rice vinegar, and honey.
  7. Pour the chili-vinegar mixture over the avocado and stir to combine.
  8. To assemble the dish, place a piece of cod on each plate, then top with a spoonful of the avocado salsa.
  9. Serve with a side of mustard dipping sauce.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
