Brisket, Potato, canned fish (tuna, sardines), oven

A flavorful one-pot wonder featuring tender brisket, creamy potatoes, and a hint of the sea. Perfect for a cozy night in with the family!

  • 1 (2-3 pound) beef brisket, sliced into 1-inch thick strips
  • 2-3 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 (5 oz) can of tuna in water, drained and flaked
  • 1 (5 oz) can of sardines in water, drained and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

  1. Preheat that oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. [Gives a thumbs up and a big smile]
  3. In a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  4. [Takes a deep breath, savoring the aroma]
  5. Add the sliced brisket to the pot, browning on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the browned brisket from the pot and set aside.
  6. [Wipes hands on apron]
  7. Add the sliced potatoes to the pot, cooking until they're slightly tender, about 5 minutes.
  8. [Stirs the potatoes with a wooden spoon]
  9. Add the flaked tuna and chopped sardines to the pot, stirring to combine.
  10. [Adds a pinch of oregano and thyme, winking at the camera]
  11. Return the browned brisket to the pot, nestling it among the potatoes and fish.
  12. [Covers the pot with a lid, giving a satisfied nod]
  13. Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the brisket is tender and the potatoes are cooked through.
  14. [Removes the pot from the oven, letting it cool for a minute]
  15. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  16. [Gives a big, cheerful 'Yum!' and takes a bite]
