- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked rice, Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Shape the rice mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. You should get approximately 12-16 rice balls.
- In a shallow dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Dip each rice ball into the beaten egg, then roll in the panko-Parmesan mixture until fully coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the rice balls in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the skillet.
- Fry the rice balls for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the rice balls from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the mustard rice balls warm, with additional mustard or dipping sauce of your choice on the side.
