What Started it all:
Ground beef, rice, root beer
This delicious recipe combines the flavors of ground beef, rice, and root beer to create a hearty and satisfying meal. Here's what you'll need:
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups uncooked white rice
- 2 cups root beer
- 2 cups water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Begin by cooking the rice. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot. Add the rice, stir, then reduce the heat. Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water has been absorbed. Fluff the rice with a fork and set aside.
- While the rice is cooking, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook for 6-8 minutes, or until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the root beer to the skillet with the beef. Increase the heat to high and let the root beer come to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the root beer has reduced by half and the beef is nicely glazed.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- To serve, divide the rice between four bowls. Spoon the beef mixture over the rice, dividing it evenly.
