What Started it all:
Ground beef, rice, root beer

This delicious recipe combines the flavors of ground beef, rice, and root beer to create a hearty and satisfying meal. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups root beer
  • 2 cups water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Begin by cooking the rice. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium-sized pot. Add the rice, stir, then reduce the heat. Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water has been absorbed. Fluff the rice with a fork and set aside.
  2. While the rice is cooking, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook for 6-8 minutes, or until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the root beer to the skillet with the beef. Increase the heat to high and let the root beer come to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the root beer has reduced by half and the beef is nicely glazed.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. To serve, divide the rice between four bowls. Spoon the beef mixture over the rice, dividing it evenly.
