Root Beer Glazed Chicken Recipe

In a small saucepan, combine the root beer, brown sugar, soy sauce and garlic. Cook over medium heat and stir occasionally until the mixture reduces by half, about 10 minutes. Set aside.

  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar

  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the root beer, brown sugar, soy sauce and garlic. Cook over medium heat and stir occasionally until the mixture reduces by half, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Coat a baking dish with cooking spray.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper to taste. Place them in the baking dish.
  4. Pour the root beer glaze over the chicken, making sure to coat each piece evenly.
  5. Bake the chicken for 30-35 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is golden brown.
  6. While the chicken is cooking, mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup of cold water until smooth.
  7. Remove the chicken from the oven and transfer the glaze to a medium saucepan. Heat the glaze over medium heat until it begins to bubble.
  8. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the glaze and cook until it thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Pour the glaze over the cooked chicken and garnish with chopped cilantro.
