Slow Cooked Pork Shoulder Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 kg pork shoulder
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup dry white wine

Instructions

  1. Mix together the garlic, smoked paprika, dried oregano, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper in a bowl.
  2. Rub the mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it's completely coated.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the pork on all sides until it's browned and crispy, about 5 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the pork from the skillet and place it in a slow cooker.
  6. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  7. Pour in the chicken broth and white wine, and bring to a simmer.
  8. Pour the mixture over the pork in the slow cooker.
  9. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the internal temperature of the pork reaches 195°F.
  10. Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  11. Slice and serve the pork with the cooking juices on the side.
