Smoky Turkey and Celery Rice Bowl with a Kick

As the weather cools down, there’s nothing like a hearty, comforting bowl to warm the soul. With the subtle smokiness of coffee and the crunch of fresh celery, this dish is sure to become a new favorite.


  • 1 (1.5-2 pound) boneless, skinless turkey breast
  • 2 stalks of celery, sliced
  • 1 cup of uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 cup of strong brewed coffee
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: diced green onions, chopped fresh cilantro for garnish


  1. Preheat the rice cooker with 2 cups of water.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced celery and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
  3. In the same saucepan, add the turkey breast and cook until browned on both sides, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Add the cooked rice to the saucepan with the turkey and stir to combine.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of the brewed coffee and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Pour the mixture over the turkey and rice mixture, stirring to combine.
  6. Add the cooked celery to the mixture and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the Smoky Turkey and Celery Rice Bowl hot, garnished with diced green onions and chopped fresh cilantro if desired.
