Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter (fed or unfed)
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons melted butter (plus extra for cooking)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Optional: Fresh fruits, nuts, or chocolate chips for topping
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, milk, eggs, and melted butter. Whisk together until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a small amount of butter to coat the surface.
- Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
- Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove the pancakes from the skillet and keep them warm in a low oven while you repeat with the remaining batter.
- Serve the pancakes warm with your choice of toppings such as fresh fruits, maple syrup, or whipped cream.
These sourdough starter pancakes are not only delicious but also a fantastic way to use your sourdough starter creatively. Enjoy them with your favorite toppings and share the joy of cooking with others!
