  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 bunch of chard
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil

  1. Start by washing and patting dry the chicken breasts. Season them with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  4. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the chard. Wash it thoroughly and remove the stems. Chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  6. In the same skillet, add the chard and sauté for a few minutes until it starts to wilt.
  7. Sprinkle the chard with sugar and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sugar to caramelize and coat the chard.
  8. Once the chard is tender and slightly caramelized, return the chicken to the skillet and let it all simmer together for a couple of minutes.
  9. Serve the Southern Skillet Chicken with Chard hot, with any pan juices spooned over the top.
