Spiced Lamb and Turnip Stew

Ingredients
- 1 lb lamb, cut into cubes
- 2 medium turnips, peeled and diced
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Assorted spices (cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, paprika, salt, and pepper)
- Olive oil
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- 1. In a bowl, mix the lamb cubes with a pinch of salt, pepper, and the baking soda. Let it sit for 15 minutes to tenderize.
- 2. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- 3. Add the lamb cubes to the pot and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the lamb from the pot and set it aside.
- 4. In the same pot, add a bit more olive oil if needed, then toss in the diced turnips. Cook for a few minutes until they start to soften.
- 5. Sprinkle in the cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and paprika. Stir well to coat the turnips with the spices.
- 6. Return the lamb to the pot and pour in enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring the stew to a gentle simmer.
- 7. Let the stew simmer for about 45 minutes, or until the lamb is tender and the turnips are cooked through.
- 8. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
- 9. Serve the spiced lamb and turnip stew hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
