Sweet and Sour Pork with Radish
What Started it all:
Pork loins, Radish, dried fruits (raisins, apricots), wok
This delicious Chinese recipe combines tender pork loins with the sweetness of dried fruits and the crispiness of radish, all cooked to perfection in a wok.
Ingredients
- 500g pork loins, thinly sliced
- 1 radish, julienned
- 1/2 cup dried fruits (raisins, apricots)
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp rice vinegar
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and cornstarch until well combined.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok over high heat.
- Add the pork slices and stir-fry until browned and cooked through. Remove from the wok and set aside.
- In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and stir-fry the radish until slightly tender.
- Add the dried fruits and continue stir-frying for another minute.
- Return the pork to the wok and pour in the sauce mixture.
- Stir well to coat the pork, radish, and dried fruits with the sauce.
- Pour in the water and stir until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the sweet and sour pork with radish hot, garnished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds if desired.
