Tamarind Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of chicken
  • 1/2 cup of tamarind pulp
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger paste
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat dry the chicken pieces. Season them with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a bowl, mix the tamarind pulp, soy sauce, honey, ginger paste, and garlic together.
  3. Add the chicken to the bowl and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and cook on both sides until they are browned, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked through, pour the remaining marinade over the chicken in the skillet and stir.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and let the chicken simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes until the sauce is thickened and the chicken is fully cooked.
  8. Serve hot and garnish with cilantro if desired.
